Job Description

Vehicle Technician / Mechanic role with a Level 3 qualification, or Level 2 Technician / Mechanic with strong workshop experience, for one of the UK’s leading automotive retail groups, working within a professional franchised dealership environment. Location: Oxford
Pay / salary: Up to £47,780 basic per annum (depending on skills, experience and accreditation), with bonus and overtime opportunities available
Job type: Permanent / full-time role
Shift and schedule: 40-hour working week, with weekend or Saturday cover depending on site requirements

You would be joining one of the UK’s largest automotive retail groups, working within a nationwide dealership network that represents a wide range of well-known manufacturers. The business offers new and used vehicle sales, servicing, repairs, MOTs, parts and aftersales support, with a strong focus on colleague development, customer service, manufacturer standards and long-term career progression.

Skills and experience
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 2 or Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, depending on experience level
  • Current practical experience as a Vehicle Technician within a dealership, franchise or independent workshop environment
  • MOT licence and manufacturer accreditation would be advantageous but are not essential
  • Own tools suitable for day-to-day workshop servicing, diagnostics and repair duties
Job Responsibilities for the Vehicle Technician role
  • Carry out inspections, servicing, maintenance and repair work accurately to manufacturer, franchise and health and safety standards.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and technical processes to identify faults and complete effective repairs across routine and more complex work.
  • Carry out electronic vehicle health checks and report findings clearly to support customer decisions and workshop efficiency.
  • Complete service records, digital checklists and repair documentation in line with company and manufacturer procedures.
  • Handle, fit and store parts, components, lubricants and consumables correctly and safely.
  • Work professionally with Service Advisors, workshop control and colleagues to deliver high-quality workmanship, first-time fixes and a positive customer experience.
