In a Roadside Technician Patrol - Superflex role, you’ll be part of our most agile and responsive unit – ready to support drivers when they need it most. This role is designed for those who can offer extra flexibility around changing schedules, less sociable hours, and shorter notice periods. The basic salary is substantially higher than a standard Patrol Technician to compensate for the flexibility needed for this role.

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role
40 hours per week, averaged over the year. Scheduling visibility – working pattern issued seven days in advance, with 72 hours’ notice for the specific hours. Working hours range from 6.00am to 2.00am, with occasional overnight stays. Rest and recovery – 11 hours of rest between shifts and a minimum of two days off every fortnight.
Shift hours may be reduced or withdrawn with a day’s notice, so it’s important that you can be adaptable. Shift times – shifts may start early, finish late, or fall on any day of the week. That’s the Superflex commitment.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role
• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
What you’ll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role
• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.
