Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Workshop Controller, HGV Workshop Controller or Commercial Vehicle Workshop Controller to join a busy commercial vehicle dealership. Applicants must have previous experience managing a commercial vehicle workshop, strong knowledge of HGV maintenance operations and Large Goods Vehicle Operator Licensing requirements, and the right to work in the UK.

Salary: Up to £50,000 Basic + Bonus
Hours: Permanent, Full Time

Workshop Controller Role
  • Manage daily workshop operations, allocating scheduled and urgent repairs to HGV and Commercial Vehicle Technicians
  • Maximise technician productivity, workshop efficiency and labour sales
  • Monitor repair progress to ensure deadlines and customer expectations are met
  • Oversee warranty claims, technical processes and accurate workshop documentation
  • Manage, coach and develop Technicians, including performance reviews and training plans
  • Work closely with the Depot Manager, Service Advisors and technical departments to improve workshop performance
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, compliance, and Health & Safety

Workshop Controller Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, HGV Workshop Controller or Commercial Vehicle Workshop Manager
  • Proven experience running a commercial vehicle workshop
  • Good knowledge of Large Goods Vehicle Operator Licensing legislation
  • Experience with warranty processes and claims
  • Strong understanding of workshop loading, productivity, and performance targets
  • Confident using workshop management systems and computerised processes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Right to work in the UK
